Why did crowfeather mate nightcloud if he loves leafpool?

I think it was because he needed to prove his loyalty. He already took two mates, both from different Clans. Having a mate in WindClan kind of showed he was a part of WindClan. (But I don't think he loves Nightcloud. Or Breezepelt. :( )

He had to mate with Nightcloud because she was a Windclan warrior. The reason he had to mate with a Windclan warrior is because he had to prove that he was still loyal to Windclan after he had run off with Leafpool.

My opinion and many other's:
He was desperate after his first (and true) love died. Otherwise he doesn't really even care about Leafpool. Feathertail watches over Leafpool's kits better than Leafpool does any way. CrowXFeather would be better parents.
Crowfeather is very desperate.

Crowfeather wanted to prove to Onestar and the whole of WindClan that he was loyal and he thought that having a WindClan mate was the best way to do that. He also wanted to prove to Leafpool that he didn't love her anymore (but he still secretly does).

well obviously not Nightcloud the only reason Crowfeather mated with her is cuz he wanted to show his loyalty to his clan he wasnt actually in love with Nightcloud

And for Feathertail the Erin Hunters said that Feathertail was only like a highschool romance.

Well Leafpool and Crowfeather were definetly in love the most they ran away together and all that stuff but thankfully they came back after Midnight told them baders would raid on Thunderclan they broke up but we all know Crowfeather is still deeply in love with Leafpool even thought right now Nightcloud is his mate

I wouldn't say they were doing this at the exact same time, that would be odd. But the reason that Crowfeather paired with Nightcloud after Leafpool decided to return to ThunderClan as position of medicine cat was because his Clan didn't trust him. I guess, in my honest opinion, I never thought Nightcloud and Crowfeather were meant for each other. I don't think Crowfeather ever liked Nightcloud. But in order for Crowfeather's Clan to trust him again, he was forced to become mates with another Clanmate and have kit(s). Hope this helped! :)

Crowfeather mated with Nightcloud because he felt obligated to fulfill his duties as a warrior and carry on his bloodline within his Clan. Despite his feelings for Leafpool, he tried to move on and create a family within WindClan.
