Karana no longer liked living in the village because the villagers had left her behind when they evacuated the island. She also felt a strong connection to her family and her island home, leading her to decide to live alone on the island.
Karana burned the village in chapters 8-9 of "Island of the Blue Dolphins" because she was mourning the death of her father and feeling isolated from her tribe. She wanted to sever ties with her old life and start afresh on the island, embracing her newfound independence. Burning the village was a way for her to symbolically move on and stake her claim on the island.
She burnt it and used it like a lamp.
I like to live in the village.
I live in a village, you get to know the community better, we are good friends with the neifgbours, also quite often deer come into our garden because our house is next to a field, village shops are close, and usually quite good, basic services in a village ie: post office, docors, take away, tesco, and stuff like that, depending where there is usually countryside and woods near a village!! :)

Karana used shells for various purposes, including making jewelry, buttons, and ornaments to decorate her belongings. She also used shells as fishing hooks and to make tools for daily tasks like scraping hides and cutting food.
No they'll freeze, just like every other living thing.
Karana wore a short skirt made from cormorant feathers and a headband woven from yucca fiber on the Island of the Blue Dolphins. She also crafted various other items like a spear and baskets for her survival.
