Why does Edward try to kill himself?

Edward trys to kill himself because Bella goes cliff diving in la push and Alice sees her in one of her visions and thinks shes comiting suicide and then tells rosalie and rose and her big mouth goes and tells edward and edward is so madly in love with Bella that he trys to kill himself because with out Bella he doesnt want to live....ahhhhhhhhhhh so romantic!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Edward tries to kill himself because he believes he is putting Bella’s life in danger by being around her as a vampire. He struggles with the idea that he might harm her and sees suicide as a way to protect her.
