because they dont have any feeling, memories of anything
Jonas has no idea because he does not do very many hours of volunteer work
Jonas received the sunshine memory from The Giver through the process of "transferring." The Giver transmitted the memory to Jonas by placing his hands on Jonas's bare back. Jonas then experienced the memory as if it were his own.
Nothing. Jonas volunteered at several places to do his volunteer hours, and thus he had no idea where the Council of Elders would place him for his Assignment.
Grandparents are a new idea for Jonas in "The Giver" because he lives in a community where family units consist of only two parents and two children. The concept of extended family, including grandparents, is not present in their controlled society where children are assigned to families and raised by designated parents who are not related by blood. Therefore, the idea of grandparents as ancestors is foreign to Jonas.
hes gonna say that jonas fell into the river, or he may just act like he also has no idea.
Because they were playing 'war', and had no idea what they were really doing. Jonas' friends had no concept of death, or dying, or pain, and Jonas did, via his memories from The Giver. Therefore, it pained Jonas to see his friends pretending to kill each other, when he had such a real concept of death.
The Giver plans to tell the community that Jonas drowned in the river, knowing that they will not question it since their memories of pain have been taken away. This would prevent anyone from searching for Jonas and uncovering the truth about the community.
well nothing goes wrong its just that Jonas runs away earlier than planned. He does this to save Gabe. The Giver doesnt know Jonas runs away early. But in the original plan the Giver was supposed to give Jonas food, since he does it early he collects leftovers.
Jonas was angry with his group mates in "The Giver" because they were teasing and laughing at him for not understanding the concept of love during the sharing of feelings exercise. Their mockery made Jonas feel isolated and embarrassed, as he was the only one who did not grasp the idea.
I had to do that and i said that Jonas and Gabriel got adopted! :) And that they finally celebrated Chrsitmas.
The name 'Jonas' is a variation of the name 'Jonah' and in the Bible, Jonah was commissioned by the Lord to proclaim judgment on a sinful city. So, Lois Lowry may have chosen the name 'Jonas/Jonah' to show that Jonas was going to somehow bring his city out of its sheltered and sinful ways, and give them memories again, of the good and bad. An example of the way Jonas's city was sinful is when the smallest of the twins was killed.
In "The Giver" by Lois Lowry, the concept of obsolete appears throughout the book rather than on a specific page. It is a theme that relates to the suppression of individuality and emotions in the community. As the protagonist, Jonas, begins to experience memories and emotions, he questions the idea of certain things, including human emotions, being considered obsolete.
