He watches over Smallear when he-Smallear-got bit by an adder, and was later on blamed for letting Snowkit eat poppy seeds when she and Bluekit went into his den without his knowing.When Tigerkit comes near him, he calls him an insult and later on murmers that Tigerpaw never should have lived, so it hints that StarClan told him of Tigerstar's future. In the prologue it's revealed that he told Bluestar a prophecy, Water will destroy you. And he gave Bluestar the gift of patience when StarClan gave her her nine lives.
