Best Answer

This is anywhere from a month to three months before the foal's due date.

So no reason to see any signs of labor. 44.25 weeks would be around 310 days

which is considered the lowest gestational age for the foal to be mature enough that

it won't require additional intervention to insure viability.

Generally there is no need for a doctor to do an invasive check unless the baby is very overdue, there are other signs of labor or a cause for concern. You could request it if you wish. 40 weeks is not overdue.and the amount of dilation doesn't always give an indication of when labor will start.
