Animals that belong to one of these groups have backbones:

1) Mammals: such as bears, humans, cats, elephants, etc.

Mammals are warm-blooded, fertilise internally, give birth, have hair/fur, lungs and suckle young.

2) Birds: penguins, chicken, pigeons, etc.

Birds are also warm blooded, fertilise internally, lay eggs, have hollow bones, feathers, beaks, wings, lungs and scales on their legs.

3) Reptiles: such as snakes and lizards.

Reptiles are cold blooded, fertilise externally, have dry scaly skin and lungs and live on dry land.

4) Amphibians: such as frogs and newts.

Amphibians are cold blooded, fertilise externally, have lungs, moist skin and webbed limbs, they live in water and on land and hibernate in hot weather.

5) Fish: any type of fish excluding dolphins, sharks and whales which are mammals.

Fish fertilise externally, are cold blooded, have scales and gills.
Warm blood animals like humans dogs cats horse etc, but not cold blooded animals!
Animals with an internal skeleton made of bone are called vertebrates. Vertebrates include fish, amphibians, reptiles, birds, mammals, primates, rodents and marsupials.

Although vertebrates represent only a very small percentage of all animals, their size and mobility often allow them to dominate their environment.
