Spinach should not be fed to box turtles. Spiniach contains oxalic acid that inhibits calcium absorption; it contains purines that increase uric acid production that puts stress on kidneys, and it contains tannins that inhibit protein and starch availability and at high levels can be toxic. Although a small amount of spinach once a month is not too bad, why feed it at all? There are so many better leafy vegetable alternatives.

Why are animals dependind on plants?

Animals are dependant on plants because of the ongoing food chain. For example: Small animals eat plants, and large animals eat small animals.
