Yes they are. Although basically nocturnal, there's still an advantage to them to have some eyesight as well.

Why do bats hate light?

Bats are nocturnal animals and have sensitive eyes adapted to low light conditions. Bright light can disorient and stress them, potentially interfering with their ability to hunt for food or navigate. They are not necessarily "hating" light, but rather avoiding it to protect their wellbeing.

Are bats blind when exposed to light?

No. most bats actually have very good eyesight; strangely, their night vision isn't as that of, say, owls--other denizens of the night. because bats can't see well enough to navigate at night, they use echolocation. the story that bats are blind is a myth.

What animals are sensitive to lights?

Nocturnal animals like owls, bats, and some insects are sensitive to lights because it disrupts their natural behaviors such as hunting, sleeping, and navigation. Sea turtles are also adversely affected by artificial lights as they can disrupt their nesting patterns and lead hatchlings away from the ocean.

What cells in the retina are primarily responsible for night vision as opposed to day vision?

Rod cells are primarily responsible for night vision, as they are more sensitive to low light levels and can detect dim light. Cone cells, on the other hand, are responsible for day vision and are less sensitive to light but can detect color and high levels of light.

Which retinal cells are responsible for vision in dim light?

Rod cells are responsible for vision in dim light. They are specialized photoreceptor cells in the retina that are highly sensitive to light and help us see in low-light conditions.
