For many dogs, it is in their nature to kill a small animal such as guinea pig.
A well trained dog will not hurt a guinea pig, particularly if it is a breed meant for herding rather than hunting, such as a border collie.
It is unwise, however, to leave the two together unsupervised - just in case.
House your guinea pig in a cage with a top and a closed open and closed area so the dog can not get in to the cage and hurt your guinea pig.

Some dogs can get along with guinea pigs. Mine however would eat our guinea pigs if they got the chance.....

Guinea Pigs are not good climbers! So if they climbed they would barely get anywhere! Be carful tho because my guinea pig clims up to my shoulders and his nails are reeli sharp!

Most guinea pigs are really afraid of dogs, they are like giants to them. And a dog's natural instinct would be to chase or eat a fuzzy, squeaking thing. Probably a bad idea.

It might be possible to befriend dogs and Guinea pigs such that the dog won't harm the Guinea pig, and the Guinea pig isn't scared of the dog, but this would be the exception. The norm is that a dog will view a Guinea pig as a source of food, an expression of love not always fully appreciated by the Guinea pig.
Usually, yes, guinea pigs are dogs pray. Bigger dogs are also more likely to be more aggressive towards smaller mammals, including guinea pigs. Retrievers are more likely to be more careful with the cavy (guinea pig), due to their breed, while more aggressive dogs such as rottweilers, and pit bulls will be more..... aggressive.

Dogs and guinea pigs usually don't get along well as in the wild the guinea pig is usually preyed upon by animals such as a wild dog. you should keep the guinea pigs away separate from your dogs. There have been times however when a dog and a guinea pig do get along well.
