∙ 13y agoNo. Even though rats and hamsters are both part of the Rodentia order (rodents), common rats belong to the Muridae family, whereas true hamsters are part of the Cricetidae family.
However, the Cricetidae family includes New World rats and mice in addition to true hamsters.
Other rodents include mice, squirrels, capybaras, gerbils, guinea pigs, rabbits, chipmunks, groundhogs, beavers, jerboas, porcupines, chinchillas, etc. There are over 4000 types of rodents.

They are like rats, but their tails are shorter, and they don't live on streets eating garbage. however not all rats do this
