"Stink bug" and "shield bug" are names used to refer to many species of insects in the family Pentatomidae of the order Heteroptera. Other "stink bugs" exist in other families (such as Boisea trivittata), but the majority are in here.

What we call "stinkbugs" in the South are basically flat bugs that are in the shape of a Shield. The sides are slightly rounded to a point at the rear and the front has a point at the head. That is a poor description.
