Most geldings are not interested in mounting and penetrating a mare. Yet there are some that will, especially one that is classified as a crypt orchid,(still has one testical inside the body cavity which was not able to be removed in a normal castration). Mares do not have an extra protection for the fetus like a womans cervix, so if a horse penetrates a pregnant mare it is easy for the mare to contract an infection which will cause her to abort. Pregant mares will act like they are in heat, especially in the later months and some will accept a persistant suitor. So mix your bred mares and your geldings with some caution. Most geldings are fine but pay attention if a gelding is paying a lot of attention to a mare.
male= gelding female= mare
mare Mare=Female Stallion=breedable male horse (stud) gelding= male horse that is fixed
A horse under the age of one is called a foal. Once it is one year old, it is called a yearling.
A adult female is a mare, a filly is a female horse up to the age of 4 yrs. A gelding is a male horse that has been castrated and no longer capable of breeding.
A mare is an adult (over 4 years old) female horse.A mare is a female horse that is 3 years or older, if the horse is any younger, it is considered a filly;)Some people don't consider a female a mare until they are 4 years old, and some don't call them a mare until they are 5!
A stallion or gelding.
Chaucer called the Pardoner a gelding or a mare. This is odd because he was not under grown in any way.
Unless you are referring to a computer game, you can't. A mare is a female horse. A gelding is a male horse which has been castrated.
No! a gelding is a neutered male horse. he cannot impregnate a mare. males are gelded so they are easier to control. They can mount a mare, but they cannot get her pregnant.
Its still called a gelding, a colt is a young stallion and a filly is a young mare
A male horse that has been gelded (nuetered) is called a gelding.
Yes, it is like Messy Mare or Stubborn Stallion or Gorgeous Gelding
She can run with the colt, but he may still harass her into attempting to breed with him, which could cause stress to the mare, which in turn could cause her to abort the foal.
male= gelding female= mare
I think he was either a stallion or a gelding.
I think you mean mare? If so, a mare is a female horse and a gelding is a male horse who cannot reproduce. A stallion is a male that can reproduce.
Geldings don't take mares. They lose all their stallion tendencies (including herding) when they are castrated. If you meant "stallion" instead of gelding, then the stallion who the mare was taken from would have to fight the other stallion to get her back and redeem himself.
