They can and most likely will if they feel they are being threatened by the males. * yes they do but it is not likely to be because they feel threatened by the males it is more often a way for them to let the males know "Here I am come and get me".....
Contact your vet, as they will be able to give you the insight your looking for.
Depending on the vet, yes. Keep in mind that this will abort the kittens. If you would rather let her have the kittens, take the mother to be fixed as soon as they are done nursing.
No, the risk of the cat dying from surgery is too great. Your vet will tell you to bring the cat back after she is no longer in heat.
This is not true. Spaying a cat in heat has a negligible risk increase compared with a cat who is not in heat. With large dogs there is an increased risk when spaying in heat because the blood vessels are way bigger and the risk of bleeding is greater. The same would be true of a Tiger. For a 10lb kitty no problem. Matt Nicol. Veterinarian.
It is possible to spay a cat while it's in heat but the procedure isn't as straight forward. The operation can take longer and is generally more 'messy'. It doesn't really add any additional risk to the cat but usually takes longer and with some vets this may carry an additional charge. Unless there is a particular reason to spay the cat while it's in heat it is probably better to wait.
No, a fixed male cat cannot mate with a female in heat. However, it is not unheard of for a male to try and mount a female in heat regardless, as the the smell of the female will trigger the instinct to mate - even though the male cat cannot mate and impregnate her.
Yes they can and you should phone your vet and discuss this procedure with them. Try having it done so you can spend the weekend with your pet.
No, that's possibly the worst time to get a female cat neutered.
No, they should not.
Yes, it's done all the time.
Male cats yowl to female cats and urinate when they are in "heat." You say he's neutered (fixed)? Well, he shouldn't be in heat AT ALL if he is neutered.
Male cats don't go into heat. Male cats can be neutered at any time. Female cats may also be spay at any time. If you suspect your female cat is pregnant, inform the veterinarian in advance.
First of all no girls are neutered. Boys are neutered. Only in dogs and cats. Not people. If you have a female pet, it has been spayed, then no, its heat cycle will stop.
Females cats don't get neutered, spayed would be the correct term. No, male cats won't usually go after a female cat if the cat is not in heat (ready for mating)
When most animals are 'fixed' they do overcome a laziness Answer: It's rather better to say, the cat becomes "relaxed" when they're neutered/spayed ( Especially male cats being neutered). They don't have to prepare themselves for going into heat season and mark all the territories, which makes it a lot less on their daily schedule as well. And my friend's and my male cats became HUUUGE after being neutered... (compared to the female siblings from the same litter who got spayed).
Male cats do not go int heat, neutered or otherwise; heat is a characteristic of the female oestrus cycle. Even a properly neutered male may still respond to a female in heat, out of habit. If a cat has learned to spray before he was neutered, he very likely will continue after he has been neutered. It likely will be less frequent, but it can still happen.

I think you mean Neutered? :P Well cat's get Neutered because the owner does not wish for the cat to get other female cats pregnant. Neutering is for Male cats and Spaying is for Female Cats. If you would like to breed cats, then don't get them neutered/spayed! If you do not get your cat neutered, it doesn't mean that it's going to get female cats pregnant, you'll just have to keep a close eye on them. I have noticed that when a cat is in heat, it gets rather annoying! But that's just me! :)

Cats are very seldom castrated; a neutered cat does retain his penis. And a neutered tom will still cover a queen in heat, because his reactions to her scents and actions will still be in place.
Keep them away from other intact cats of the opposite sex. It is much easier and less worrisome to have them spayed or neutered, however. Female cats will go into heat every 8 days if they are not spayed, and it is not a pleasant experience. Also spayed female cats have a largely decreased risk of ovarian and mammary tumors, and neutered male cats have a largely decreased risk of prostate cancer. If cats are neutered/spayed before they reach sexual maturity it will also prevent bad behaviors such as spraying.

If they aren't neutered, yes.
Yes, a female ferret can be neutered to keep her from going into heat.
Yes. Spraying is a way of marking territory, and both male and female cats are very territorial. Except when a female is in heat, a male cat considers her no more than another intruder on his hunting grounds, and will spray to mark his turf.
Unneutered Tom cats will often wonder away from home when they smell a female cat in heat, or to look for a female in heat. It is common for them to always come home after a few days to a week later. Usually they return home pretty banged up from fighting with other male cats. I have also witnessed many different Tom cats around my own home when my female cat comes in heat. The best thing to do, if you don't want your tom cat to leave home in search of a female, or to spray all over the house is to have him neutered. It could save his life. Cats that are neutered or spayed tend to live longer than those that are not and will not get certain cancers that intact cats may develop at some point in their lives.
