I wouldn't think so. Unless you are feeding it a VERY bad diet. Hamsters normally eat fruits and veggies, plus a variety of snacks available at pet stores like herb balls, yogurt pieces and nuts. As long as they remain on this recommended diet, your hamster definately should never have a diabetic problem since they do not eat any kind of straight suger i.e. candy bar/cookie ect.
Also don't forget to give them SALT. it is crutial to their diets. I gave mine salt wheels from the pet store to both provide their salt need and whittle their teeth down. (Hamsters teeth never stop growing and can kill them if they never eat anything super hard.)
Hamsters that are commonly kept as pets, such as Syrian hamsters, dwarf hamsters, and Chinese hamsters, can be found in Georgia. These hamsters are typically found in pet stores or through breeders in the state. However, wild hamsters are not native to Georgia.

Hamsters dont eat a lot of grain but there is some. There is some dried fruit grain and little nuts, mainly they will eat dried fruits or vegies. DO NOT over feed then or they can become Diabetic. But fresh fruit and vegetables will cause wet tail a potentially fatal form of diahhrrea. And if I were you a wouldn't give that to them.
