A lion would not be a good pet at all. Mainly because lions are not domesticated and are still wild animals. As to prove this point many people that have kept lions as well as any wild animal or big cat as a pet have been mauled and killed by their "pet".this would not be a good choice.

In general, man-eating animals make very bad pets. And lions really like to eat people.

The other issue is, a lion weighs about 500 pounds and eats whole animals. Even if you could convince it you weren't good eating, it would be really expensive to maintain one.

Lions will never be good pets. They are wild animals and will never be happy as domesticated pets, and you will most likely be attacked and probably killed if you try. They just aren't meant for it, and to attempt it would be simply wrong.

However, the answer above mine is biased and incorrect. Lions do not eat humans, they eat wildebeests and other prey on the savannah. The only occasions that they would eat humans are when they are starving and/or threatened by them.
