Jaguars, once native to the extreme southern USA (Arizona & New Mexico), now inhabit portions of Mexico, Central America, Paraguary, Argentina, and in the Amazon Rainforest of South America. Jaguars, often mistaken as leopards because of their spots, are not in Africa. Any contrary to some beliefs, are not related to leopards. Jaguars, unlike most large cats, kill with their powerful jaws by crushing their prey's skull. Belize, Central America has the first jaguar preserve in the world. They are primarily nocturnal, secretive cats.
