I am in agreement with the first answer. If cats feel threatened, they will attack. Same with almost any animal, unless it has a brain functioning problem. Animals are born and raised on, "Survival of the fittest." They do what they do to survive.
As for cats contracting parasites: Can ANY pet really help it if they get a parasite? All animals are susceptible to parasites and illnesses. The same goes for traffic accidents. A cat or dog that doesn't get out of the way of a car in time doesn't make it evil. It makes it a tragic accident.

Yes, cats can play with their food. They play with their pray because they risk injury. A cat's way of killing is by delivering a bite to the neck, which paralyzes the animal. But if they try and do this right away, the small animal, such as the mouse, rabbit or bird, could strike out with beak/feet. So, the cat tires out the prey, by hooking it into the air and stunning it on the ground, and batting it back and forth, making it more tired and weak. Then, while they are still stunned, they bite the neck. This is just in their blood, and their hunting method by instinct. In reality, it is smart. that is why cats and other animals like them can survive in the wild, because they have natural born and smart hunting instincts.

In my opinion and experiences, yes they do. My house always had a odd bad feeling to it. Mostly in the basement where there was this dark decrepid cubby hole. My cats Tigger and Midnight, both relatives of the Egyptian cats, would stand in front of this cubby hole and take turns guarding it. After 5 years of my parents living there, Tigger our oldest cat died. Then a week later, our other cat Midnight died(I think from a broken heart over Tigger). About a month later weird stuff started to happen. Lights flickering, noises from the basement, an overwhelming evil feeling everytime you were into the basement. Now a year later I know for sure my house is haunted. Now we hear voices, alot mimicking my voice or my fathers, and loud thumps on the floor sounding like its coming from the basement. I do think my cats were keeping something evil at bay down there and once they died their protection went with them. Now im sure that house has an evil poltergeist.
