According to the Vet I did work experience with for a week, the answer is NO they don't. His been a Vet for 20 years now, take it or leave it <3

Not true. Cats absolutely do have prostates.

I have no idea why the vet would tell you this, or what brought it up, but cats, dogs, horses, cows, and I assume all other mammals have one. It's necessary for normal reproductive functioning (keeps urine out of the semen, helps control the release, and stores semen, of which 1/3 is produced in the prostate.
