My cat just started seeing his shadow over the past few weeks and is constantly getting startled by it. :) I kind of feel bad for him because he only goes a few steps and then sees it, gets scared, and leaps through the air and takes off like a bullet. I wonder if there's anything to help?
Answer
A cat's eyes are very sensitive to dark and light, so it makes sense that a cat would be able to see it's own shadow.
Some cats do not seem to be effected by their own shadow, either ignoring it or not fully aware of it, or otherwise. Some cats, however, are aware of their own shadow. A cat's eyes are also very sensitive to movement, so some cats will pick up on this movement and will either try to attack this moving shape, or run away.
For cats that may get stressed out by their own shadow, owners can try Feliway, which emits a pheromone to help keep cats calm. This can be bought in most pet stores or veterinary practice. If your cat doesn't seem overly stressed, then give your cat some time; he may get accustomed to his own shadow over time.
cats have better eye sight, with colours, us and cats are about equal. cats can see the furthest and considering how far we can see, cats see far things in detail unlike humans, it gets blurry. our normal sight range are about the same, though cats can see things quicker than we can
jaguars do not normally group together , however, if you see a few they are called a pride, the same as lions.
Cats are able to see some colors but with less vibrancy compared to humans. They have more rods than cones in their eyes, which allows them to see better in low light conditions. Cats have a keen sense of motion and can see well in low light, helping them to hunt effectively.
Try and see
Cats, like dogs, can see some colours: They can tell the difference between red, blue and yellow, and between red and green, although these are less distinguishable. Cats are able to distinguish between blues and violets better than between colours near the red end of the spectrum.Colour is of little importance to cats. They hunt by the motion of their prey, not by its colour.Another AnswerCats actually see in color - the colors they can see are between the yellow and purple spectrum and are not as vibrant as the colors we see. To them the object will look similar as we see it in color, but faded.
