This depends on the species. Some males, like bears, cougars, tigers, panthers and leopards, will kill their own young if they get the opportunity and if momma isn't paying attention or isn't around to protect her young. Most animal species, besides the ones listed, don't kill their own offspring. If the males constantly killed their own offspring this would quickly lead to an extinction of that particular species.
