Yes, well, it is good to hold them and tame them. It'll get them used to people. At first, they may be scared and may bite. If so, it doesn't matter much, it is just as you smell different. Keep trying and wear gloves. So, yes, they do like to be held.
Unless they are really sleepy and really trust you, hamsters will squirm when you hold them. Hamsters are instintually always afraid of being captured and eaten by their predators so they think that they constantly have to be on the move.
