Depends on the reptile, some can stand the cold weather such as some types of snakes while others can't and need heat such as the bearded dragon

Do snakes like rainy weather?

Snakes are cold-blooded and often prefer warm and dry weather to regulate their body temperature. Rain can make their environment damp and cold, which may prompt them to seek shelter to stay warm and dry. However, some species of snakes may be more active after rain to hunt for prey or seek water sources.

Are snakes cold blooded or warm blooded?

Snakes are cold-blooded, also known as ectothermic, which means they rely on external sources of heat to regulate their body temperature. They cannot generate heat internally like warm-blooded animals.

Are snakes warm-blooded?

no snakes are not warm blooded they are cold blooded although some snakes do not bite but are still cold blooded

Why don't snakes live in the arctic?

Snakes and other reptiles are cold blooded animals - they do not generate heat internally from their food the way warm blooded animals such as penguins or seals do. They (snakes and other reptiles) warm themselves up by absorbing heat from a warm environment and / or by basking in direct sunlight. This is a good answer but understand, by cold blooded, it does not mean the animal's blood is cold, this reference is to the condition described above, Cold weather makes these animals very sluggish, to the point of defenseless, the reason why so many go into a hibernation like state in areas that have cold weather.

Where do snakes go during cold weather?

Snakes and other reptiles brumate during the winter months much the same way as mammals hibernate. If the weather worms up, the snakes can reanimate for a short period by basking on a rock in order to snag a quick meal before the weather gets bad again. Some snakes that occur in Northern extremities of the planet like Canada and Russia develop a unique genetic variation with the production of extra melanin in the pigment cells. Basicall this term is called Melanistic and makes the snake very darkly colored or black altogether. This allows them to heat up faster when basking. "Dens" are usually communal with most species of brumating snakes in N. America witht the location consisting of a rocky outcrop(rocks for basking) on the South face of a hillside or mountain. Underground gets cold during winter, but not nearly as cold as the icy surface.
