I've never heard of a dog using its whiskers to balance. The only thing a dog uses for balance is its tail. The dog's whiskers help it feel how close to something it is...so it doesn't bump into inanimate objects. Dogs really don't need this sense if their sight is good.
Yes, all cats, including lions, have whiskers. Whiskers are vital sensory organs that help cats navigate their surroundings in low light conditions, detect changes in air currents, and assess objects or prey in close proximity.

Yes. I have two cats that were born with no tails... they have very good balance. I'm sure if a cat loses it's tail it will learn how to climb without using it for balance. And even without tails my cats still always land on their feet.
Yes whiskers are used to help balance as well as feelers to help them judge space and help in the dark. A cats tail also helps them balance, my cat had lost his tail do to an injury and now he uses his whiskers more to help balance. Even though Issacc lost his tail his balance is as good as ever, they adapt. Whiskers on all animals help them move threw the dark, a good example is a rat, a rat stays close to the wall when running around in the dark and his whiskers make this possible. The whiskers feel along the base of the wall and the animals can make judgment calls extremely fast to tell them to turn, stop, or whatever the case may be.
Jaguars are in the same family as domesticated cats. Both have whiskers in order to help them with balance. I do not know why that is but the answer to your question is because whiskers help the animal to balance. Hope this helps!
Same as they do for all cats. Whiskers are how they balance

Rats need their whiskers to balance when jumping, as they can line them up and judge how much force to use in a jump They also need them as rats eyesight isn't particularly good and so the often stay close to the edges of rooms and objects, using their whiskers to help them feel where they are going.
Cats whiskers are used to let the cat know if they will fit through a area. If a cats whiskers are cut it throws off their sense of balance also.
A cat can't balance without its whiskers. Cutting a cats whiskers off is cruel and you'd have to be a complete jackass to do that to an animal
