Do you have to put the hummingbird feeders in the shade or the sun?

Partial shade, near flowers is best. Full sun tends to ferment the nectar (sugar water) faster. We hang several feeders 20-30 feet apart so males don't dominate the nectar.
Added: putting multiple feeders, even 2 or 3 feet apart will get a lot more birds.
