From personal experience: My cat does not like the smell of it if I hold it out for her to sniff, but I don't know whether she would avoid the smell, especially if it were less-strong, dispersed over furniture or something.
Be careful applying olbas oil as it is an oil and can leave stains on cloth/furniture/carpet. Also remember that it's very strong - so make sure you don't mind living with the smell yourself! One of my cats goes nuts for the stuff, will root tissues with it on out of bin etc. so I shouldn't think it would work to deter him.

Do you mean what are inhalents? They are gases that you inhale. Some could be drugs or medicene. Even olbas oil is an inhalent as it clears your nose
