Some itching is normal for guinea pigs but if it is in excess and there is redness, bleeding, or hair loss I would seek a vet. I had a male guinea pig who itched excessively and it took us a good 2 months to find an effective treatment (we ended up having to get him a shot to treat the mite infection he picked up). A good exotic specialist vet should know what is affecting your guinea pig and will know the proper medication to give them, as some medications are lethal to guinea pigs. Do they need lotion or any treatment? What about baths, do they help?
