A guinea pig will need a large enclosure, the size of three-quaters of a bath tub for two guinea pigs. They need straw, wood chippings (if really cold), or edible dried grass, from your local pet store. My cage has straw flooring with a large shoebox with plenty of wood shavings for a warm hideout, they have a ladder to go upstairs then a bridge to go where their food and water are. Use heavy ceramic dishes for their food and water, as they like sitting in their food, and tipping over their water. You might also want to buy a salt licker etc, which you could ask your pet shop for. You should also line the cage with newspaper. Buy premium guinea pig mix that has a variety of seeds, nuts, and hay. Change their water daily, and the straw etc weekly.
Guinea pigs need a clean dry cage, about the same as a rabbit size, or a large aquarium. The bottom should have wood chips or pellets, changed whenever soiled. There should be a water bottle hung on the outside of the cage with a little drip spout that allows water to come out when they lick it or a heavy bowl of water. they eat pellets from a pet store or from the supermarket and also a little alfalfa. They like dandelion greens and carrots, lettuce, apples, for a treat. They need to be kept clean. Bathe them if their skin gets oily, but make sure you don't get water in their eyes or ears. If they start scratching, you are probably bathing them too much and their skin is dry, so stop giving them so many baths. They should stay in a heated room, no garage for winter. You should also try to get Vitamin c drops to put in their water every day. Change the water daily because some guinea pigs will spit out food into it. That's the basic care tips. Helen and bubble17 and also Caroline added stuff to this.

Don't use a water bowl - it will just get messy. Use a water bottle instead. Give them plenty of fresh, quality, dust extracted hay EVERY DAY! Aquariums - no matter how big wouldn't be great due to lack of ventilation which could increase the risk of fungal skin infections. Don't bather more than once a month. Fresh water and green veg, peppers and grass everyday. If you don't keep them in a hutch with a decent sized run - let them have a good run around daily.
