jack russels often have very long lifespans for dags, if it is kept in good shape ie regular walks, good food, yearly checkups with the vet. then there is no reason that your dog shouldn't reach the age of 14 easily. it is very rare for them to live beyond 20. I have had a troup of jack russels for my whole life, the oldest one I've had died at 18 and the youngest was 14. jack russels are not short term pets and are fiercely loyal to their owners to a fault. if you are considering getting one and have children, i advise caution as some become dominant aggressive to children, however that being said, if treated right, some jacks can become obsessed with protecting children and are perfect companions for children of 7 onwards as long as the child doesnt persistantly bug the jack.
