Best Answer

A male duck, once fully grown, has between 1 and 3 curly feathers on his tail called 'drake feathers'. a female doesn't have these feathers.

Most fully grown male ducks have green heads while females are a gold-brown colour. Also some males are bigger than the females.

You wait 'til they are mature, and look at their tail. A male duck has a curly feather on top. A female doesn't. == # Step 1 Hold the duckling on its back with its head pointing down your wrist in your right hand and its legs up in the air pointing away from you. # Step 2 Expose the vent by holding the tail up with your left hand, and pressing in and up between the duck's legs with the thumb and forefinger of your right hand. With very slow, gentle pressure, open the vent. # Step 3 Observe the genitalia through the opening. Female ducklings have a cone-shaped organ that is more easily observable. Males have a smaller, longer, pointed organ inside a larger cloaca. The male's organ may not even appear for several seconds after the vent is opened. http://www.ehow.com/how_2061032_sex-ducks.html

Only ducks (females) quack, drakes mostly use a wheezy whistle.
