You didn't say why you couldn't get another pet. Dogs get along very well with cats and I have two small dogs and one cat (who thinks she's a dog.) When I've had to put one of our dear pets down the other is depressed so I generally get a kitten or a puppy and all is well once again.
If there is simply no out as far as getting another pet, then just give your cat more affection and love (that means spending much more time with your pet.) Eventually the cat will get over it's grief. Also buy the cat a very soft blanket and a furry teddy that it may cuddle up to.
