Teaching a guinea pig its name might take a while, but it is worth it in the end. First, whenever you go to his/her cage, call out its name in a soft voice. When the guinea pig responds in some way to that (which may take a few weeks) bring him/her out of the cage and place it on a surface, then with some treats at the ready, call out his/her name, if the piggie moves closer or shows that he/she is listening or heard you...give him/her a treat. I know that it is possible because my guinea pig learnt to come to his name! It really helped too, because i just needed to call out his name and he would go into his sleeping compartment and make it easier for me to catch him! Good luck
A guinea pig is a small rodent native to the Andes region of South America. They are not pigs; the name "guinea pig" is a misnomer.
The name "guinea pig" is believed to have originated from the fact that these small animals were originally brought to Europe from the South American country of Guinea. The term "pig" in the name is likely due to the squealing sounds they make that are similar to a pig.
The most common one is Cavy. There might be others but it is mostly Guinea Pig and Cavy, but they DO NOT come from New Guinea nor are they part pig. Take Care and god Bless! :)
