How can you tell a guinea pig is ready to have her babies?

The guinea pig will start to drink a lot more water than usual and you should notice the stomach getting larger. Also a week or 2 before the birth you can actually feel the babies kicking. My guina pig has given birth twice, the babies are adorable :)

the only way you can tell is if it is getting fat stomach, but its not fat anywhere else. if this is happenning you should take it to the vet to make sure. then you should keep it in its own, separate hutch so that its friend doesn't attack them.

Pregnant female guinea pigs take on a very noticeable pear shaped appearance as the babies grow. The only sure way is to visit a vet. They may charge a fee or if you have a experienced breeder.

Guinea pigs are pregnant for 63 to 75 days (about 2 months and a few days). The larger the litter, the less time she will be pregnant and vice versa. By time you realise she is pregnant she may already be more than half way along and it shouldn't be too long until birth.
