It's very dangerous for both the hitchhiker and the driver. Some hitchhikers rob, beat, rape and murder the drivers who picked them up. Some hitchhikers are robbed, beaten, raped and murdered by the drivers who picked them up. It goes both ways; some drivers attack and murder hitchhikers and some hitchhikers attack and murder drivers. There's one about an elderly man who took a shortcut through the woods to go home and he found the body of a 20-year-old hitchhiker with a full leg cast. He was hitchhiking home and got picked up by the wrong person. The driver murdered him and threw him in the woods. There's one about a hitchhiker who was spotted cooking the driver's heart over a fire. I had never hitchhiked in my life and I never will either because if I get picked up by the wrong person I could get kidnapped robbed raped or murdered. We can save our lives by not hitchhiking or refusing a ride from a total stranger.
