Animals are not just created out of thin air. When the Earth was created, in time particles and cells started to be created and the bonded together to form DNA and the molecular structure of the simplest life forms. After time, the simplest forms started to evolve into the animals we know today.
But after the huge meteorite which hit the Gulf of Mexico 35 million years ago, you wouldn't think that anything survived. Your wrong. Birds, lizards, crocodiles, alligators and loads more managed to survive. Birds are the perfect example of how animals have evolved. they used to be featherless and then it started to grow into the birds we now know today. These changes took millions of years so it wasn't instant. And that is basically how animals got here.
