Best Answer

Squirrels grip the surface with their claws, either with their hind pair of legs or hind pair of legs at a time to get grip. They cannot hold on to a tree with only one leg. They always use the front feet or back feet together. And when you see the speed at which they climb up and down the trees and rarely fall, you don't believe that they climb with their claws and wonder if there is any other mechanism by which they stick on to the trees.

Find a tree with a low branch. Then grab the low branch and put your legs on the next branch above you. Hoist yourself up by grabbing another branch above you.
