Depending on the cat, it depends on their background mostly. But you always could test the cats behavior around your child and be very close to the cat. But cats are usually very nice to children as long at the child doesn't hit or abuse it. Good luck!

Why does your cat attack children?

Most children are not properly trained how to act around animals. They move too fast and are noisy, which makes cats & dogs nervous. Keep the children away from the cat or tell them to move slowly and be quiet around it, and see if that helps. Hold the cat in your lap while they slowly and quietly pet the cat. If the cat continues to attack them, then you must keep them separated until you can get the proper training in how to deal with the problem; or find the cat a home without children and a more mellow cat for your children.
