Dogs are born the same way as any mammal. A female and a male mate, the eggs are fertilized and begin to develop. When the litter is born, one at a time, the mother dog usually licks the outer coating off of them and then feeds them with her milk. They grow and are sometimes sold to families who want to take care of them.
They are born in litters of various sizes, almost always one at a time, from their mother's womb. The mother licks the remaining amniotic tissue from them and usually eats the placentas unless they are taken away.
