Humans have mostly made domesticated dogs more or less useless in ecosystems, but when they kill other animals such as rodents, birds and cats, they are being secondary (sometimes tertiary) consumers. When they die and we bury them, the nitrogen in their bodies is returned to the earth, and can be usurped by plants.

Dogs live all over the world in every climate. Domesticated dogs live inside or outside the owner's home. Outside dogs need a place for shelter from wind and rain.
