A way to convince your parents to get a pet rabbit is to firmly ask them. If they say no. research rabbits as much as you can. Then, make a collage and essay saying why you want a rabbit, how you would look after it, etc. Also draw mini diagrams where you might like the cage. Then, show all of the expenses of it, including the total cost of the rabbit. I am trying to get a rabbit, and I did this, and tonight I will show my parents, and hopefully, I will get a rabbit. I LOVE RABBITS I WANT ONE SO BAD TOO!
Show your parents that your a responsible in other house hold tasks that they have given you. If they see that you are willing and able to take care of those things/other pets, then they might be more willing to acknowledge your promise to take care of one. If a friend has a rabbit, try spending time with that rabbit, and even ask if you could take care of it for a few days, to see if you and your family like having a rabbit as a pet. Ask what is about a rabbit that they are unsure about. Perhaps they are unfamiliar with the needs, expenses, and activities of rabbits. Let them know that in general, rabbits are sweet, quite, inexpensive, and fairly clean animals. With a proper cage, diet, and care, they can be some of the most charming pets anyone could have. Keep in mind however that rabbits are not throwaway pets as most of them live to be about eight years old, though some live to be fifteen! So be wise when acquiring a new family friend.

You need to show them that you are responsible enough to care and provide attention for the rabbit. The average life span of a house rabbit is ten years. For the benefit of the rabbit, this is commitment and should not be taken lightly.Keep in mind that there is a rabbit overpopulation problem. It is ideal to adopt rabbits from shelters and rescues rather than to purchase one at a pet store or from a breeder.

I would show them some YouTube videos of rats. There are very educational videos that can be used to show what pet rats are like.
The best way to convince a parent or parents to allow you to have a pet, is to demonstrate responsibility. Owning and caring for a pet is a full time commitment. Make sure you know what your pets needs will be and that your capable of performing these duties. You might first babysit a pet for a friend or neighbor to give you a feel for what it would be like to care for your pet. If you continue to be committed to demonstrate your ability to be responsible and also keep up with any school, family, clubs, hobbies, teams, etc., duties-- I think you will be successful in winning your parents over in allowing you to own a pet.
