In order to find a mate, you will need to have visited all three territories and encountered a stranger wolf (entering the social arena and interacting with the wolf) in each area at least once. Once this has been done, you can revisit any of the three territories - only this time, you'll want to be looking for a Dispersal wolf of the opposite gender to your wolf.
When you have found a Dispersal wolf of the opposite gender, you'll next need to socialize. To make it your mate, you must use the options in this order:
Afterwards, you'll be able to name your mate and he/she will always follow you from now on. Once you have your mate, you can save the game and move on to Slough Creek.
Be warned: there is currently a bug in the game that renders saving impossible if you have died in a social arena. If you did die, save/load options will be greyed out until you quit to the main menu and reload. There's no fix for this bug at the moment, so be careful and save frequently.

technically you cant give an animal a sexuality as they're not intelligent enough to tell the difference between 'gay' and 'straight'. a wolf can mate with a female and have offspring but the same wolf can also go and mate with a male, just nothing will happen.
you dont really GET a mate on multiplayer, well there are chats that say " need partner " and stuff, and if you go to one of those you can find a wolf and they will ask to be your partner. you can say yes or no. you can have a role play ( made up ) wolf mate too
A dispersal is a wolf, such as yourself, that has left its pack to look for a mate. Whatever gender you are when you can get a mate these are the wolves that you look for.
No, your mate WILL run off if you get killed but not for long, if you ask them to come back by howling or hunting, then they will return.
It is not possible to mate on Wolf Quest.
You CAN NOT be your mate!
When a wolf's mate dies, the surviving wolf may experience grief and loneliness. They may seek out a new mate or choose to live alone for a period of time. The impact of losing a mate can vary depending on the individual wolf and their social dynamics within the pack.
