German Shepherds are known to be a very protective and intelligent breed. When introducing them to new people, it is always advised that you not take the dog by surprise. For the first introduction, have your boyfriend come into the house and sit down in an area that is familiar to your German Shepherd. Carefully bring your pooch over and let him or her start by sniffing your boyfriend. He should not act apprehensive or show fear, as the pup will pick up on this. Gradually coax your boyfriend to pet your dog and allow them some time to get to know each other.
