guinea pigs gestation lasts about 63-74 days, depending on how many babies they are having. a longer gestation means less babies and the other way around :)
in the last few weeks of pregnancy you should be able to feel the babies moving around inside the mum, this means you have about 3 weeks left give or take a few days. you must be very gentle when feeling for movement, as you could harm the mother or babies! try not to handle her much in the last week either!
about 24-48 hours before birth the pelvic bones will separate to about 3.5 cm. you can check this by having her on a table facing you. run your fingers down her spine and when you get to the end of the spine, just about her 'lady parts' gently feel for two small bones. the gap between these will slowly get bigger in the few days before birth.
to know when a guinea pig is about to go into labour is very difficult. they usually have their babies late at night or early morning, so you will probably be asleep and wake up to some bright baby faces looking at you.
guinea pigs make a 'grunt' noise before they go into labour, but sometimes by the time you hear that noise the first baby as already arrived. the grunt noise does not sound like the grunt that a pink pig makes... lol not exactly sure what it sounds like but aparrently you will have never heard it before and know exactly what it means!
some sows will get very quiet and cosy in their little house, while others may act completley normal.
if you are lucky enough to witness the birth, just sit back and let her do her thing. she knows what to do, so don't intervene unnecesarrily. although, some sows can forget, refuse or be too busy to clean their babies. if the mother has not cleaned the sack from the baby you need to do this ASAP. pinch the sack at the babies nose so it can breathe. use a damp cloth to clean the baby and then return it to mum.
good luck! I hope this is helpful!

Guinea pigs can sometimes die after labor due to complications during childbirth, such as difficulty delivering the babies or internal bleeding. It may also be related to underlying health issues or inadequate care during the birthing process. Prompt veterinary care is crucial in such situations.

The guinea pig should see a veterinarian. The veterinarian can discover the cause of the guinea pig's hair loss, and he or she can see what should be done for the guinea pig.
You can quietly watch your guinea pig while she is in labor to make sure nothing bad happens, like trouble taking of the "sac" of the face or elongated time of birthing and ONLY intervene at that time. Your guinea pig should not have any problems birthing though.- mother of pregnant guinea pig
