How do you know a rabbits emotions?

Rabbits thump their feet to warn others of danger. They basically use it as a signal.

Rabbits also sometimes thump out of frustration, anger, boredom.

Whatever the reason, your rabbit is thumping in order to get your attention!

It's easy to tell the difference between a danger thump and a frustration thump: If the rabbit is warning of danger, it will look very alert, ears cocked, body still; if the rabbit is thumping out of frustration, it will usually be jumping around or playing or acting agitated.
All rabbits thump. This is a warning signal, all rabbits CAN be lookouts for the herd. Predators, strangers and loud noises will provoke thumps from rabbits.

You can tell a rabbits emotions by their behaviour. If they are jumping, flipping, and running around they are playful and happy!!! and very funny to watch!!They also like toys to throw around, paper to rip, and places to hide, and climb on. If they are relaxed and feeling secure, they will flop and sometimes roll over, and be very relaxed!! If they are scared they will run or squeal, if showing danger to a predator they will stamp there feet loudly, our female does it to warn her babies. The female can become moody around her cycle time. Our female became more moody when pregnant. Protective at times, of food, and her mate. She shows us she is not wanting to interact, by growling at times, or moving towards your hand scratching, at times light nipping. Rabbits are quite easy to work out how they are feeling, because they are very expressive in their actions. They also have different tempraments. Our male is very placid, and has never got moody, at times he can be very mischevious and be hard to catch when running around. Their ears also tell you alot about how they are feeling, if they are up and noses twitching eyes sharp and looking they are assessing a situation, if they are flopped they are relaxed. When our male was sick with a virus, he sat very still and didn't eat a whole lot. He also had a wheeze and mild temp. The vet gave him an injection that made his symptoms improve very quickly. Rabbits are great pets, that can be a part of the family!!!

Thumping means your rabbit is upset- he's either angry, or very scared. Either way, he's not a happy bunny.
