When you first buy a hamster, you will need to purchase a cage or habitat with food and water dishes, bedding material, hamster food, an exercise wheel, chew toys, and possibly a hiding house or tunnel for your hamster to feel comfortable and secure. Additionally, you may need to buy a water bottle and some treats for your new hamster.
The best thing to do is make home-made toys: A toilet paper/paper towel roll would be the best for hamsters because they can crawl in and out of it and chew on it to make bedding. Also you can make a hamster swing by doing the same thing but making it higher and you can watch your hamsters enjoy swinging back and forth in it.A cool way to do something is to make a maze with toilet paper/papertowel rolls and cardboard from cereal boxes or moving boxes and cut a hole that the roll will fit in and stick the roll in it until it goes to the middle of the cardboard and do this pattern until you run out and you can collect this and make a huge maze and put the treats at the end of the maze (makes the hamster go through it faster) If you know how to make a bird feeder you should know how to do this: Get an item that is nontoxic and can fit in the cage ( if you dont know of any items type in on google "home made items to make a hamster treat") then get some sticky food around it but not glue or probably not peanut butter you can get plainlow fat yogurt and get a spoon and put it all around the item then stick hamster food around it and get some thread and hang it at the top of the cage
You put bedding at the bottom.(Preferably shredded paper or wood shavings.)But NOT bedding with any fiber materials in it .The fiber material can give it a respitory problem and they could die .Put a small water dish in it .(for cleaning themselves) A few toys to play with like cardboard from a toilet paper roll .A wheel .And a food dish with veggies and seeds .NEVER feed your hamster cheese .It will get diaria and die.And put in a water bottle thing. Make sure that you dwarf hamster cannot slip through the bars of your cage.Dont buy a plastic cage.It needs bars.Thats it! Thanks and good luck with your hamster
Not necessarily. The initial cost of purchasing a hamster and its supplies can add up, but the ongoing expenses for food, bedding, and occasional vet visits are relatively low compared to other pets. However, unexpected medical expenses can make owning a hamster more costly.
