Best Answer

While there is tremendous color variation in both domestic rabbits and domestic mink

Rabbit fur and mink fur are nothing alike. Rabbit fur is finer, softer and the undercoat

is a lighter version of the hair coat. The color of a wild rabbit is usually yellowish to tan-brown with agouti banding.

Mink fur has a much thicker hair shaft and the color appears to be consistent along the length of the shaft. The color of a wild mink is reddish to chocolate. The mink hair coat is designed for water resistance as well and has an "oilier" feel to it because mink spend time near and in water.
