Zombies don't actually need to eat to survive. Eating is simply a survival instinct of the virus, because when someone is bitten the virus is transmitted to a new host. If there were no humans left for the zombies to eat or infect, they would simply continue to wander about until they fell apart or deteriorated enough to no longer exist.
