A gorilla can protect itself by pounding on his/her chest and making very loud nosies to frighten the attacker. If that fails, it can just hit or counter-attacking the attacker.
They stand upright, beat chest, roar and throw things, such as rocks, and even large branches. They are non-aggressive unless cornered and scared. They are shy creatures and will generally avoid a confrontation. The only enemies of them are leopards and humans, who shoot them for their fur and meat.

They will also chase each other, with the chaser attempting to grab at the chasee to tussle it up some more. They may also try to slap or pound each other with their hands/fists (NEVER like a human does when boxing) at the body or head. The loser then turns tail and runs away, lowering his head as a sign of submission.

∙ 8y agoGorillas protect themselves in many ways. They live in groups, which prevents many predators from attacking. They also hide very well, which keeps them safe. If threatened, they usually run away, but the dominant males will perform a threat display to scare away predators. They stand up very tall and beat their hands on their chests, making a loud booming noise that is pretty scary. If cornered, a gorilla will bite and hit out with their strong arms.

The Western lowland gorilla is classified scientifically as Gorilla gorilla gorilla. It is one of the two subspecies of the Western gorilla and is found in Central Africa.
The Latin word for gorilla is "Gorilla."
