Why do tigers sleep in the middle of the day?

Male lions sleep up to 20 hours per day (with one eye open so to speak.) While the females are the hunters the male lions don't and their job is to protect the pride (their harem so to speak.) The male sleeps, but scent and (one eye open off and on) is gathering the strength he needs to spring on command when another male lion tries to steal his pride (female lioness'.) An older Lion will protect his pride, but if it's a younger male lion the younger one usually will back off of the fight rather than to risk death. If two adult male lions fight over the right of a pride there is usually a fight to the death. This takes energy and alertness so a male lion is never really fully asleep. Lion are actually nocturnal creatures. They hunt at night, especially during the full moon. At day break, lion will find somewhere to lie down and rest for the rest of the day.

How many tigers are killed in a day?

About 250 tigers were killed due to poachers each DAY, until about 2000. This is horrible, because they are wonderful animals, and they will soon be extinct if people do not act now. What people do not know at the moment, is that if humans could see the animal that is scared, wanting to protect its' young, and wanting to belong to a larger pack than its' own, rather than the killer animal who has no feelings or a family, tigers would be a little more known as the good guy rather than the bad.ABout 500 tigers are killed each year by poachers.

How Siberian tigers hunt?

Siberian tigers are powerful hunters that travel many miles to find prey, such as elk and wild boar. They use their fur coats as camouflage (no two tigers have same pattern) and hunt by stealth. They lie in wait and creep close enough to attack their victims with a quick spring and a fatal pounce. A hungry Siberian tiger can eat as much as 60 pounds (27 kilograms) in one night, although they usually eat less.
