How fast does a Belgian malinois run?

My 3 year old male malinois likes to chase me on my motorcycle. He runs on the sidewalk while I ride down the road, and he can usually keep a 35-38 mph sprint going for about a mile before he starts to slow down a few mph. In a short distance he can keep right next to my friend's retired race greyhound, but she will pull away a little after 50 yards or so. He is 70 lbs, and though I hear greyhound females are usually 60-65 lbs, my friends dog is 85 lbs. My malinois is barely faster than his 45 lb sister, so I think that their speed is pretty representative of the breed.
